January 2021 - Helix Monthly Results
We started the new year in style with a record 40 players coming out to the Helix Disc Golf Monthly at Palm Royale Country Club in La Quinta on Saturday, January 2, 2021. The word is getting out and we’re glad to see plenty of people visiting from all over. We even had the SoCal legend, Don Shinn (aka “Mr. Mamba”), out to join us and shred the course at 100-years-young!!!
It was chilly when we started, but the sun came out and it was a picture-perfect day with no wind. Only sunshine and birdies (and maybe a few dirty spit-outs)! Like last month, we played the course as a par-55 layout this time. It seems making hole 12 a par-4 was a popular decision, so it will likely be a permanent feature on the scorecard.
This was also the first Helix bag tag event of the year. We had 25 players purchase tags and we look forward to seeing the new tags displayed on a lot more bags this year. Next time you come out to play with Helix, be sure to get yours for only $10. It helps support the club and it’s a fun way to spice up the competition.
We had a great balance in the divisions this time, so we were able to pay out plenty of top finishers. All the prize winners are listed below:
